PB Cookie Dough Yogurt

When you’re in a mountain of Christmas cookies and find yourself reaching for another sugar packed dessert then try whipping this up instead.  I have no idea where I ever found this recipe but I make it pretty often when I have a sweet tooth going on and need something to hit the spot.  It reminds me a little like eating chocolate chip cookie dough, hence why I named it that.  Luckily the 6 ingredients it takes to make are staples in my pantry and fridge.

Friday Favorites #16

This is my last Friday Favorites until it’s 2016!  Craziness!

1. This is a fantastic article for all women to read about looking best in the clothes you choose.  Number 17 I think is my favorite!

2. Goals!  Since the new year is 2 weeks away I plan on creating a goal list.  Instead of resolutions I am going to set goals like I did for 2015.  I also will be looking back on the goals I set for 2015 and see how much I achieved.

3. These look so fun to give as little favors for a New Year’s Eve Party.

4. In the past I was obsessed with the Bath & Body Works foaming hand soap but I got introduced to EO Naturals Hand Soap and have picked them up from TJMaxx on clearance, the kind I have bought from there I can’t find on Amazon but I think I will order EO Hand Soap instead.

5. My love for Chipotle is so strong but I cannot go there again and until they fix something with this outbreak!

6. Enjoy this time with your family and friends and loved ones!  Remember to take a few minutes to look around and be in the moment!  Make memories!

Friday Favorites #15

Lets get right into my favorites from this week…

*In advance thank you for checking out the links in pink that I have provided, I have explained on my info page about my affiliations*

1. Sadly enough a lot of my online shopping buys from Black Friday were big busts but I did end up loving this sweater I ordered from The Limited.  It’s comfy and not too heavy and huge bonus with the thumb holes!  And as I went on the site to order two other colors they were sold out, ugh!

2. I want this salad!

Butternut Squash, Pomegranate and Goat Cheese Spinach Salad with Red Wine Vinaigrette - definitely one of my FAVORITE fall/winter salads!! The flavors are blend perfectly.:

3. The story of the little girl asking for holiday cards for Christmas is so touching.  It’s a reminder of what this season is all about.  I am sending her a card, are you?

4. Season 2 of Serial started yesterday!  I binged listened to the first season and I am torn between wanting to listen to it each work and wanting to wait till it finishes so I can binge listen.

5. Have you heard of The Bouqs Company?  They have gorgeous bouquets of flowers that come from the side of a volcano in Ecuador.  The colors are so vibrant and full.  I will be sending out a couple of their holiday bouquets as gifts.  Everyone loves fresh flowers!

6. I was told to check out Reese Witherspoon’s instagram for book suggestions.  She has a little book club hashtag on there and I totally want to be a part of her club.  I made sure to add some of these books that I haven’t read yet to my list.

7. Everyone needs a little self-help once in awhile, I think this little cheat sheet is good to have handy.

8. I’m tempted to buy this sweatshirt to wear the week of Christmas

Holiday Gift Giving

This time of year can be stressful as many of us have a long to do list of things to accomplish before the end of the month arrives.

Shopping for gifts can be one of the areas that people stress over most.  For myself I know I am always thinking who do I need to get a gift for and what do I get that person?  It can be agonizing to come up with the perfect thing to wrap up for a special person in our life.  I thought that posting about some items that I have tested and tried and loved would get the gears in motion for you to think of a present to put under the tree.  Some things below I have bought myself to enjoy, bought for others who have raved about it or someone bought for me that I always think is a great thing to receive. (In advance thank you for checking out the links in pink that I have provided, I have explained on my info page about my affiliations.)

For the baker/cooker friend:

1. I love baking with this non stick silicone mat.

2. It’s always when you are dressed to go somewhere and preparing a dish to take at the last minute and you spill or splatter food onto your outfit.  Throwing on an apron saves me everytime!  Anthropologie always has the cutest ones that I wouldn’t even mind keeping on through a whole dinner party.

3. Zoodle recipes are popping up all over Pinterest, a great gift would be the Veggetti that I own or this Table Top one that my sister in law has and I love using, it’s so much quicker than mine.

For the fashionista friend:

1. This is my favorite purse I have ever owned.  I’ve had it for almost two years and still looks brand new and I pretty much use it on a daily basis.  Everything does drop to the bottom of the purse however I can fit so much in it that it really doesn’t bother me.  I can fit bottles of water, slippers, a vinyasa scarf and still have room!

2. Everyone needs a comfy pair of UGG Slippers!  As well as my favorite leggings!

3. On a daily basis I wear these tanks!  They are long enough to wear with leggings and a tunic, working out so they don’t ride up, under my favorite comfy sweatshirt.  They’re a staple for anyone to have in their closet.

4. I wear this scarf from Lululemon EVERYWHERE!  I first received one as a gift and I have been hooked on them ever since.  It can be worn so many different ways, I wear it with coats and I use it as a blanket quite often in the movie theater and it is always with me when I am on a plane.  I basically have one with me at all times.

Vinyasa Scarf

For the health conscious friend:

1. Recently I was given the FitBit Charge HR and it’s almost an obsession to check my steps each day and to see how my heart rate is during a workout.  Knowing my heart rate helps to push me to go more or back off if I am not hitting the prime number.  A huge benefit for me is that it tracks my sleep and I am finding that I am getting much less sleep that I expected I was getting.

2. When I was training for the Buffalo Half Marathon this past year I got a lot of use out of this fitness belt.  It also worked perfect in Disney, I could put my phone, my license and a credit card in there and have it under my shirt and wouldn’t have to have a bag looked through at the gate plus it’s easy to take onto a ride and hands free!  Ok, ok, it’s kind of like a fanny pack but I love it.

3. I’ve talked about my salt lamp before on the blog, I have it on whenever I am at home.

4. Even if the person you’re buying for isn’t practicing yoga regularly, the yoga mat I have I use for more than just yoga, I use it for stretching also.  I never realized before what a difference a real quality mat will make until I got this one!

For the wino friend:

1. Your friend needs somewhere to put all those corks.

2. I personally don’t have this wine opener but everyone else in my family does and I love using it!  Easy breezy!

3. Who wouldn’t love these candles made out of wine bottles and in the scent of wine!

For the bookworm friend:

1. Love having a Kindle Fire.

2. A few of my favorite books from this year; Pretty Girls, Inside the O’Briens,  The NightingaleThe Girl on the Train.  Amazon is so awesome because if you want to gift a kindle book to someone you totally can by just providing their email address.  You don’t need a kindle to read a kindle book, you just need the app which you can download on any smart device.

For the anyone friend:

1. Gift cards! Amazon Gift Card can even be sent through an email.  If you forgot someone at the last minute this saves you!

Happy Holidays and Happy Shopping!

Friday Favorites #14

21 more days till Christmas (or as I am hearing everywhere, 21 more days to shop)!  I love Christmas but I am already so tired of hearing how many more shopping days there are.  Is this just me or do other people feel the same way?  Just enjoy the season!

1. I loooovvveee this table setting!  I wish I had a reason to set my table like this cause I love it that much!  It must be the plums and I love the napkin rings!

2. My friend sent me this the other day for Easy Soup Recipes and I can’t wait to try a few out.

3. Has anyone baked with dates?  I think I don’t like dates but I don’t know when I had them last so maybe it’s all in my head.  Maybe I will try this recipe to slow myself into loving dates since I like all the other ingredients in these Oatmeal Date Cookies.

4. I’ve been doing this 30 days of yoga and I love the freedom of the moves she instructs to do.

5. If you were a Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train fan then you must read Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter!!!  I am in the middle of it and it has me so intensely interested.

6. Typically it’s cold and snowing by now in Buffalo and it’s been the complete opposite!  I’m really not complaining but… my sister in law bought me this Michael Kors’ coat for Christmas on Black Friday for a steal and I’m all prepared (not patiently waiting) for the snow to come so I can wear it!

7. My sister has this Rebecca Minkoff wristlet that duals as a phone case.  I am getting a new phone this month and I don’t know if I should go with this so I don’t have to lug around my purse everywhere or if I should just go with a regular case.  If you are looking for a gift idea for me for Christmas, this is a good one, hint hint!

8. I love pinterest but I get annoyed when I find something I want to buy and then realize it was from years ago.  Of course I came across this pink and gold Kate Spade thermos and wanted to immediately buy it but to my dismay it is nowhere online to buy but I did find this year’s Kate Spade gold thermos that I would love to drink my coffee and tea out of.

Zucchini Quiche

Quiches are so versatile. I know if I make one I can eat it for any meal. The base of this quiche is so creamy that I can add any vegetables to it and I know ill love it. The original recipe is from Confessions of a Fit Foodie who specializes in 21 day fix recipes, which I don’t follow but I love her recipes.

image

First I sliced 2 zucchini very thin and sauteed them in a pan with a tablespoon of butter over low heat. Once they were softened I added a chopped small onion to the pan and cooked them together for about 10 minutes over medium heat.  I seasoned the zucchini and onions with pepper, 1/2 tsp of dried basil and oregano.

image

While the zucchini and onions cooked I beat 3 eggs and added in a 15 oz container of ricotta and a cup of shredded mozzarella.

image

When the zucchini and onions were tender I folded them into the egg mixture.
I sprayed a 9 inch pie plate with cooking spray and filled the plate with the combined mixture. I cooked the quiche for 40 minutes at 350 degrees until a knife came out clean.

image

Since I made this recipe the first time I have added other vegetables in the mix such as spinach and asparagus.
I put a piece of the quiche over spinach before eating.
